To the Farm
Horses, donkeys, cows that moo,
Chickens, kittens, piglets too,
Fish that swim down in the pond,
Ducklings quacking all day long.
All these animals you can see
If you go to the farm with me.
All Around the Barnyard
All around the barnyard
The animals are fast asleep.
Sleeping cows and horses,
Sleeping pigs and sheep.
Here comes the cocky rooster
To sound his daily alarm.
"Cock-a-doodle-doo!
Wake up sleepy farm!"
Farmyard
Little hen
feathered and red
pecking round for scraps of bread.
Little goat
fierce and white
thinks his rope is much too tight.
Little calf
soft and shy
peeking out with one brown eye.
Little cat
black and lean
crouching so he won't be seen.
Little pig
muddy and stout
trying hard to wriggle out.

Five Friendly Farmers
Five friendly farmers
Wake up with the sun,
For it is early morning
And the chores must be done.
The first friendly farmer
Goes to milk the cow.
The second friendly farmer
Thought he'd better plow.
The third friendly farmer
Feeds the hungry hens.
The fourth friendly farmer
Puts the piggies in their pens.
The fifth friendly farmer
Picks the ripe corn.
And waves to the neighbor
When he blows his horn.
When the work is finished
And the evening sky is red
Five tired farmers
Tumble into bed!
The Farmer
Sun is coming up
Farmer's out the door,
He will go to milk the cows,
And start his daily chores.
Sun is going down
Horse is in the stable,
All the fields are planted now,
Supper's on the table.
Horses, donkeys, cows that moo,
Chickens, kittens, piglets too,
Fish that swim down in the pond,
Ducklings quacking all day long.
All these animals you can see
If you go to the farm with me.

RIDDLES
I live in a house called a coop.
I have two legs, two wings and a tail.
I eat worms and bugs and grain.
I lay eggs.
I am a...
Chicken
I have a little tail.
My nose is called a snout.
I live on a farm.
I can say, "Oink-oink"
I am a...
Pig
I have four legs and a long tail.
I eat oats and hay.
I love to run fast.
I let people ride on my back.
I am a...
Horse
I walk on all fours.
I come in a few different colors.
Most of the time I'm black and white,
but sometimes I'm brown, cream, and black.
Some would say I'm stupid,
Some would say I'm smelly,
But everybody in history would agree,
Well, at least the farmers,
That I am key.
I can be used for food when I'm dead or alive.
What I produce when I'm alive is a common household object and a cookie's best friend.
I have udders
So when you squeeze them
A white liquid comes out;
A lot of times it is mistaken for a drink
When really it's a food.
I naturally grow horns, but farmers usually remove them.
The male of my species is well known and swings his horns around.
He is in common games that the Spanish consider part of their culture, and he is aggravated by seeing something waved in front of him which is usually red.
So now you know a little more about me, can you guess which farm animal I am?
Cow
I am a type of animal
Some say that I have a long face
I’m very good at running fast
So people ride me in a race

FINGERPLAYS
This Little Cow
This little cow eats grass.
(hold up one hand, fingers erect, bend down one finger)
This little cow eats hay.
(bend down another finger)
This little cow drinks water.
(bend down another finger)
And this little cow does nothing.
(Bend down another finger)
But lie and sleep all day.
Eight Baby Pigs
Two mother pigs lived in a pen (thumbs)
Each had four babies and that made ten (fingers of both hands)
These four babies were black and white (fingers of one hand)
These four babies were black as night (fingers of the other hand)
All eight babies loved to play (wiggle fingers)
As they rolled and rolled in the mud all day! (roll hands)
Chickens
One, two, three little chickens. (Count three fingers.)
Dear little downy things,
Cuddling away from every danger (Nestle one hand under other arm.)
Under their mother's wings.
Peep, peep, when the baby's sleepy,
This is the song she sings. (Assume a relaxing position.)
Sleep, sleep, sleep, little chicks,
Little chicks sleep in the night.
Five Little Ducks
Five little ducks went in for a swim. (Hold up hand, extend fingers.)
The first little duck put his head in. (Point to each finger in turn.)
The second little duck put his head back.
The third little duck said, "Quack, quack, quack."
The fourth little duck with his tiny brother
Went for a walk with his father and mother. ("Walk" fingers up opposite arm.)
Five Little Pigs
This little pig makes and "oink, oink" sound,
This little pig is fat and round.
This little pigs roots all around,
With his piggy snout, he digs up the ground.
This little pig has a curly tail.
He eats his lunch from a shiny pail.
This little pig doesn't seem to care
If any other pigs get their share.
(hold up fingers and bend each one down as verse progresses)
This little cow eats grass.
(hold up one hand, fingers erect, bend down one finger)
This little cow eats hay.
(bend down another finger)
